TRAVEL

There are a number of ways to get to the Event Village which is located on the rugby pitches equidistant from Sheen Gate and Roehampton Gate.

If you are planning on using public transport, we suggest you download the free Citymapper app from the app store which will calculate the best possible route from where you’re travelling from to the start line. We recommend you enter the postcode for the Royal Ballet School (TW10 5HR) which is a 5 minute walk to the event village. You WILL NOT be able to park at the Royal Ballet School, this is just a good point of reference. Other useful references are Sheen Gate (SW14 8BJ) and Roehampton Gate (SW15 5JY).

For more information on planning your journey, including information on cancellations and expected delays, please visit the TfL website.

DRIVING

We have an extremely limited number of spaces in Sheen Gate Car Park for the entire day for £20. This can be purchased during entry into the event or added on afterwards by logging into myevents.active.com.

Please remember to bring the email receipt you will have received shortly after booking. You will need to present this at Sheen Car Park on the morning of the event.

If you don’t manage to secure a parking spot please do not drive into the park on event day, this will cause disruption and you will be turned away. Parking spaces cannot be purchased on the day of the event.

CYCLING

If you are travelling from a nearby location, we absolutely encourage you to cycle to the Event Village – it’s a great warm-up if nothing else! We are going to be providing secure bike-racking right in the heart of the Event Village for thousands of participants, so you don’t need to worry about trying to find somewhere to lock your bike up.

Can I run for charity?

Definitely! Our Official Charity Partner is Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity who would hugely appreciate your support in raising funds for their fantastic cause. You have two options:

1.      Secure a Charity Entry for a reduced entry fee, commit to a minimum target (£350) and receive support from them in the build up to the event.

2.      Secure a General Entry and fundraise as much or as little as you like.

Yes, disabled participants are welcome. All we ask is that you clearly state what your disability is, along with any assistance that will be required, on your online entry form. If you require a guided runner, please email hello@london10mile.com who will be able to provide details on how to claim a free place for your guide.

Can wheelchair racers enter?

Whilst we are always looking for ways to make our events as inclusive as possible, we unfortunately are unable to accommodate solo wheelchair racers due to the steepness of some of the climbs and descents. We can allow a wheelchair user to take part if they are being pushed by a runner. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause.

Can I enter multiple people at a time?

No. We do not allow runners to enter on behalf of others* because each participant must personally agree to our event terms and conditions and ensure all details (including medical information) supplied are correct.

EVENT DAY INFORMATION

Can I park within the Park on event day?

Car parking within the Park is now sold out. If you didn’t manage to secure a parking spot please do not drive into the park on event day, this will cause disruption and you will be turned away. Parking spaces cannot be purchased on the day of the event.

Can I start with my friends?

10 MILE:

If there’s a group of you wanting to take part then we will do our very best to make sure you start in the same wave. In order to allow us to do this you need to make sure you have entered the same ‘Team Name’ during registration. If you wish to check or change your ‘Team Name’ you can login to your account myevents.active.com using the details created when you entered. Whilst we cannot guarantee to get everyone in the same wave as their friends we will do our very best.

FAMILY FUN RUN:

The start for this will be much more casual than the 10 Mile event so you will be not be shackled to specific start times.

Will the event be timed?

10 MILE RUN:

Each runner will be given a race number which will have an electronic timing chip attached to it. This will be triggered as soon as you cross the start line and deactivate when you cross the finish line.

FAMILY FUN RUN:

This year the 1 Mile Family Fun Run will be timed and everyone will get a medal for their efforts! Make sure your race number is pinned on so your time is recorded.

Will there be Pacers?

Yes, Pacers will be on hand every 5/10mins per finish time from 60mins+. If you’re interested in becoming a pacer, please email hello@london10mile.com.

Can I run with my child in a buggy?

If you would like to run with your child in a buggy, please download and complete this parental consent form and email to hello@london10mile.com before Tuesday 1st May.

Can I listen to music whilst running?

We strongly discourage the use of any equipment that acts as an impediment to hearing or concentration when running. This includes, but is not limited to, mobile telephones, personal stereos and MP3 players. Please note we cannot be responsible for accidents resulting from taking part with such equipment.

Is there a cut off time I need to finish by?

We have the use of the park all day so you can take your time. However, we recommend all runners should take no longer the 3.5hours to complete the 10 Mile route as the Picnic in the Park will close at 4pm and you’ll want to have time to enjoy this.

Will there be a bag drop?

Yes. You will have a baggage tag on your race bib that can be torn off and looped round your bag before handing over to our Bag Drop Team in the Event Village. The baggage tag will have a number that correlates to your race bib. You will need to present your race bib in order to reclaim your bag so do not throw it away until you have got your bag back!

We want you to be able to get some fresh clothes on before retiring to the Picnic in the Park with your family and friends to enjoy the entertainment on offer!

Do you need volunteers?

If you don’t fancy taking part yourself then volunteering is a great way for you to experience this incredible event. We’re always looking for amazing people to volunteer at our events and guarantee you’ll have a fantastic time doing so. If you’re keen to find out more then please email hello@london10mile.com.

SPECTATORS

Can I walk around the park and cross over the route on foot / bike?

As this is a closed road event you’re able to spectate and cheer along the entire route.

You can walk or cycle around the park paths but you will not be allowed on the roads being used by the runners. There will be crossing points at various sections of the route too. Marshals will be on hand to point you to the nearest crossing point.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes of course! Whilst runners aren’t allowed to run with dogs, spectators are allowed to bring their four legged friends. Please make yourself aware of the rules of the Park as there are places where dogs must be kept on leads and other areas where dogs are not allowed: Dogs in the Royal Parks.

RESIDENTS

What roads will be closed during the day of the event?

Only the roads within the park will be closed. If running isn’t your thing then we encourage you to come down and enjoy the other activities that will be going on all day.

POST EVENT

I have a question regarding my time from the 2017 event, what should I do?

You can find out your 10 Mile time by clicking here and searching for your name / race number. The profile lists your Gun Time and Chip Time, as well as your 5 mile splits.

If you cannot find your profile or believe there is an issue with your time please email our timing providers, Race Ahead, on timing@raceahead.net.

Please note the 1 Mile Family Fun Run was a non-competitive event and therefore not timed.

I have a question regarding my photo from the 2017 event, what should I do?

All 10 Mile runners can view their personal race photos by clicking here and searching for your name / race number. Photos will appear at the bottom of your profile page. Please note the photo technology groups your photos in accordance with your time and because of the volume of runners finishing at similar times, some photos may not be of you. We’re confident that each runner has a handful of photos that they can use as their next profile picture!

If you’re struggling to see yourself in any photos please email our timing providers, Race Ahead, on timing@raceahead.net who may be able to track you down!

Please note the 1 Mile Family Fun Runners will not have personal race photos.
